What is CUET?

CUET (Common University Entrance Test) exam is conducted every year by National Testing Agency (NTA) to enroll students into various UG programs offered at all central universities, including DU, JNU, JMI, EFLU, and the University of Allahabad. Students aiming to study undergraduate programs in central universities have to appear in the CUET, now mandatory. A student’s Board marks will have no role in determining their admission to a college or a program. It will be based only on their CUET marks. However, board marks could be the minimum eligibility criteria for admission.

CUET 2022 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the Central Universities' eligibility criteria to apply for and take the CUET 2022. The following are the eligibility requirements:

• For UG: Students must have completed Class 12 from a recognized board in the Science stream to be admitted to bachelor's degree programs at the Central Universities. To be eligible for the CUET 2022, candidates in the General category must have a minimum of 50% in Class 12. Candidates in the SC/ST category must have a 45% in Class 12. For BTech programs, the minimum aggregate for General category candidates is 45 percent, while the minimum aggregate for reserved category candidates is 40 percent.

• For PG: Applicants for a master's degree must have a bachelor's degree from a recognized university. Candidates applying for admission in the same or a different field of Bachelor's degree must have a minimum of 55% (General)/ 50% (SC/ST) to be eligible for CUET 2022.

• For Ph.D.: Candidates applying for a Ph.D. program must have a Master's degree from a recognized university or institute to be considered for admission to research programs. To be eligible for Ph.D. programs at Central Universities, the candidate must have a minimum of 55% (Genera)/ 50% (SC/ST).

CUET 2022 Exam Pattern

NTA will also hold the CUET Exam in 13 different languages ( Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Odiya, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, English, Hindi, and Urdu). Check out the updated CUET Exam Pattern 2022 here.

1. CUET 2022 will be held online this year; previously, the exam was held offline.
2. CUET (UG) – 2022 will be divided into four sections: Section IA – 13 Languages, Section IB – 19 Languages, Section II – 27 Domain-specific Subjects, and Section III – General Test.
3. The question paper will be of the MCQ variety, with 175 questions, 140 of which must be attempted.
4. A candidate may select three languages from Sections IA and IB.
5. Section II consists of 27 Subjects, from which a candidate may select a maximum of six.
